To Wagner ‘s Music

Home movies of German families during the rise of fascism, private amateur footage of German soldiers on the frontlines of the Second World War and footage of the Auschwitz trial in Frankfurt am Main between 1963 and 1965 form the basis of a unique montage film. It traces the German nation's journey from the joyous tranquillity of domestic life to the hell it created for itself. This is a film about how evil slips unnoticed through the kitchen door into private homes. Subtle, often disguised in sophisticated forms, and often in the name of good, it patiently seeps into people's minds over the years, eventually becoming the nourishment for the totalitarian systems that continue to resurface today.
